Rebuilding the World?
No Comments I must be watching too many post-apocalyptic movies. It doesn’t help when I read, watch and listen to news about catastrophies around the world– Asian Tsunami, Hurricane Katrina and the Pakistani Earthquake. Society looks very fragile. There is little difference between being comfortably happy and utterly destitute. The world’s infrastructure may be very large, but the examples I’ve just listed show a distinct inability to respond to catastrophe.
So what more can we do to survive regional devestation? But what about the case of globally decimation? What must society do to protect the infrastructure? And how would we get it all back if it were lost?
But before diving into those questions, we’ll explore a little bit about the Library of Alexandria in my next post.
